I have been grooming dogs for many years on and off but really had to learn quickly when I bought my first Bichon Frise Daisy in 2015, after a long and demanding career in Sales & Marketing I decided that it was time for a change….I enrolled on the City and Guilds L2 Dog Groomers Assistant course at a local Dog Grooming Training Academy this is when my ambition grew!
I absolutely loved the training experience and learning to groom from the bottom upwards I passed the exam ….my ambition was to groom from this level but after watching the level of grooms produced by the qualified groomers in the Training Academy I knew that I wasn’t good enough with just the Level 2 qualification nor did I have the correct level of confidence to groom professionally ….
I immediately enrolled on City & Guilds L3 the rest as they say is history I qualified with a Merit in November 2019 and opened my Dog Grooming Salon The Groomery in October 2019. I am now looking to enrol for my Higher Diploma in spring 2021
My training and coaching was achieved at the prestigious KD Grooming Studio Wincanton owned and managed by Kelly Davis the winner of The Golden Stanley, Pooch Perfect 2021
I have been connected to dogs all my life, I bought my first pedigree dog at the age of 20, Lottie who was a Golden Retriever and she introduced me to the show ring, I owned and showed Goldens for about 10 years having good success in the show ring at Open and Championship level.
I bought my first Bichon in 2015 – Daisy – my love for the show scene was reignited! Daisy is my foundation bitch and produced my first home bred Bichon Purdy, I also own her Father Teddy Baxter, I own 3 and ½ Bichon Frise, Daisy, Teddy Baxter, Purdy and Molly ( Bichon x Mini Schnauzer) My kennel Affix is Anneymar which I have held since 1991
When I am not grooming, showing, or researching dogs I enjoy my family and garden as well as walking and enjoying the beautiful Jurassic coastline.
Grooming Assistant
Talor
I am Talor and I am learning the art of dog grooming at The Groomery by doing work experience while I am training to achieve my City and Guild L2 Dog Groomers Assistant, I too am training with the very talented Kelly Davis and The KD Grooming studio’s team.
I am loving every minute of it and I am so pleased to be accepted at KD Grooming Studio – I thoroughly enjoy the training experience and the variety of dogs I have to groom and the 1 to 1 tuition – Once I have completed my L2 I intend to go on and train for my City and Guild L3 Professional Qualification.
Animals have always played a major part of my life but I never thought of a career with them until Maz introduced me to dog grooming – I asked if I could watch Maz at work and totally loved what I saw – I asked if I could bathe a dog, Maz gave me Daisy to bath and dry and that was it I got the bug!
When I am at The Groomery my main tasks are assisting with admin, bathing and drying some dogs oh! And making coffee for Maz!!
